American Society for Reproductive Medicine published a report which says that the number of surrogacy births have increased by 200% merely during a period of 2004 to 2011.

It is also expected that there must be more than 30,000 births happening through sperm donation in US.

The behavioral issues

When these surrogate children were studied by a team headed by Susan Golombok, family research professor then it was concluded that these children have a considerable amount of adjustments problems.

Golombok, who is the Director of Center for Family Research at Cambridge University, has written in this report that youngsters and teenagers have more problems in adjusting.

The reflection of unacceptable behavior

These children start displaying problem right from the early age and the same continues even when they turn out to be teenagers.

They are reported to be more anxious, angry, stressed and emotionally down that other children of their age.

The probable reason

The research shows that these children find it difficult to accept that they were there in the wombs of a woman who is not related to them. Especially the fact, that their mother did not carry them leads to a disapproval and hence turnout to be an aggressive behavior.

They are unhappy about the fact that their mother did not carry them biologically.

Though process behind the screen

There could be a lot many questions arising from the situation. Do they find it difficult to accept their own mother as mother?

Do they feel m roe attached to the one who carried them for a period of almost nine months?

Do they suffer from identity crisis too?

All the above could be correct and hence it can be said that these children are initially not aware of their mode of birth When they come to know of it, they start struggling to accept and act accordingly.

It won’t be an exaggeration to say that they are neither able to relate themselves with the mother who is their real; mother and the one who gave them birth biologically.

Precautions that can be taken

Parents of such children can think of preparing a strategy to inform hose children about the scientific approach of surrogacy. For this they can consult a relationship expert and or a counselor who can guide them through the process of informing their child.

The child should be at the age of understanding things so that he or she can understand the reason why the parents had to take such a help.

It is also important to take up a few examples from surrounding, if possible and share with the child.

Surrogacy is rarely by chance and mostly by choice. Parents must ensure that the child who has come to them through surrogacy gets the right kind of information at the right time and in a right way. Only then the entire purpose would be served, else their parenting could remain difficult and the child may also suffer from emotional disorders.
